Mental Health Jupiter, Rehabilitation Support Services is a private practice that has been in business for over 12 years, with over 40 years experience; a Mental Health practice providing direct and individualized support to maximize the overall quality of life and potential for adults with psychiatric disorders.
Abbey Friedman is a guide, counselor and dedicated advocate for all of her clients with an extensive resume supporting a long and successful career, over 12 year in private practice, spanning over 40 years experience.
Atop graduating in 1976 with a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of South Florida, she has directed three large residential programs, servicing as many as 246 adults. Abbey has received certifications as a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Practitioner as well as a Rehabilitation Counselor.
Abbey has held a Board of Directors position on a national, state and local level and a Presidential position in The Florida Chapter for the United States Psychiatric Rehabilitation Association Certification Commission (USPRA). Additionally, she is currently the Training Coordinator assisting Behavioral Health Organizations in gaining National Accreditation.

Mental Disorder
At Mental Health Jupiter we provide services for mental disorders, also called a mental illness or psychiatric disorder, is a behavioral or mental pattern that may cause suffering or a poor ability to function in life. Such features may be persistent, relapsing and remitting, or occur as a single episode. Many disorders have been described, with signs and symptoms that vary widely between specific disorders.
Depression
Depression is a state of low mood and aversion to activity that can affect a person’s thoughts, behavior and feelings. A depressed mood is a normal temporary reaction to life events such as loss of a loved one. It is also a symptom of some physical diseases and a side effect of some drugs and medical treatments. Depressed mood is also a symptom of some mood disorders such as major depressive disorder and dysthymia. At Mental Health Jupiter we provide many services to help with your sense of well-being.
Anxiety
Anxiety is an emotion characterized by an unpleasant state of inner turmoil, often accompanied by nervous behavior, such as pacing back and forth, somatic complaints, and rumination. It is the subjectively unpleasant feelings of dread over anticipated events, such as the feeling of imminent death. With Mental Health Jupiter can can help teach you that Anxiety is not the same as fear, which is a response to a real or perceived immediate threat, whereas anxiety is the expectation of future threat.
